Beating the Virus – Remember we are still at Level 2.
So there are a few things which still apply – be careful, watch your social distancing, remember to regularly wash your hands – and you can take regular
There is a renewed buzz around our community this weekend. Many holiday home owners have taken the chance, for the first time since lockdown, to check out their properties and enjoy a weekend at the beach.
And there have been a number of visitors who have come to sample our alpine village at the beach.
Most have realised that nothing much has changed other than some of us are still waiting to visit the hairdresser, others have taken to cultivating stuff on their faces what grows wild on other parts of their bodies, and there may be the odd extra kilo here and there.
While the weather has played its part the beach has been spectacular with a large swell pumping in. Just a reminder – we have been Covid free – lets keep it that way.
FINAL STAGE TO PUBLIC TOILETS PROJECT
Landscaping and the finishing touches will now be applied to the new public toilet block project at Onemana. Adjustments have been made to the proposed landscaping plan due to some changes to the drainage line.
This week TCDC staff met with ORCA representatives and a resident to finalise the landscaping which will provide an enhanced appearance to the site. The land contour will be raised slightly with plantings to be located on the western side of the site.
In addition to this it is proposed to provide bollards to block vehicles from driving onto the surrounding grass area. Residents will be aware that in the past campers and other vehicles drive onto this area and it becomes a mess. The bollards, the same as those surrounding the grass on the other side of the carpark, will stop this.
New noticeboards are also being located on the eastern side of the building, these will replace the existing noticeboards by the bridge and shower. The new noticeboards have been designed to blend into the new development.
The matter of freedom camping was raised at the meeting, ORCA will take a proactive approach to council’s proposed review on this and will involve residents.
