Rate Rise Reduced Next Up Is The 2021/2031 LTP
Your Thames Coromandel District Council rates will increase by 4.98 percent for the coming 12 months. The new level is set to be approved by Council at a meeting on June 30.
Significantly down from the original 9.98 percent proposed increase, the new level is still well above annual inflation. Council has also approved a $6 million smoothing loan to spread the effect of rising costs.
ORCA was one of the 200-plus submitters on the 2020 Annual Plan our main thrust being that at this time nothing more than an inflation adjustment should be accepted.
In its media release on the TCDC Website Council has congratulated itself on making cuts from the original unacceptable 9.98 percent increase.
ORCA will now begin preparing for the 2021/2031 LTP submissions and once Council makes information available, we will be seeking feedback from our members and residents.
Waikato Regional Council Rates
The WRC has held is rates for 2020 with only a 0.1 percent increase. Council has also acknowledged the challenging times by making a rate relief provision for residents over 65 years requiring financial assistance.

The attached chart provides the breakdown on what can be recycled or what needs to go into your rubbish. Our local waste gurus also inform us that with plastic bottles, lids are to be removed and the bottles should be rinsed. It is also requested that bottles and cans not be flattened or squashed.
