The Onemana Community
From the hilltop entry, the expansive views of the Pacific Ocean issue a welcome to a unique part of the Paradise Coast. Venturing down the valley the coastal community unfolds before the foreshore and bay is revealed with its lovely golden sands and the curving crescent shaped beach.
Forming the beach backdrop are masses of magnificent pohutukawa trees lining the cliff tops and clinging to the cliff face. From the centre of the beach, opportunities abound – swimming, surfing, fishing, bush and coastal walks, sports such as tennis, volleyball and petanque, a children’s playground along with the opportunity to simply just sit and enjoy the views and ambience of the majestic coastline.
Overlooking the beach are the 406 permanent residences and holiday homes forming the Onemana community.
Supporting our community is the Onemana Boat Shed Café and Bar, an adjoining dairy and the Whangamata Real Estate office. New Zealand’s “smallest” surf club patrols the beach during the summer months while the locally based Rural Fire Force is manned by volunteers.
Accommodation is available with Bachcare, Bookabach and Airbnb providing visitors with many options.
